Ultimate fighter finale!!

According to rumours Kimbo Slice will be facing Houston Alexander at the ultimate fighter finale,If this fight comes to fruition then i have no doubt it will be a war,Both love to plant their feet and swing for the fences although i feel that Alexander will have a slight advantage as he has good knees and elbows as well as his punches.A win for Alexander would see Him back in the main stream with the ufc and Kimbo most likely would get another fight on the next fight night,should Kimbo win then he could find himself on a future under card.I hope it happens.

ufc 106 Co-main event

Now that Brock Lesnar has pulled out of the main event at ufc 106,Tito vs Forrest has moved up and replacing them in the co-main event is one I'm looking forward too...Josh Koscheck vs Anthony Rumble johnson,Johnson has been tearing through people but Koscheck is as tough as they come and if he can stand the initial onslaught could give Johnson some trouble.I look forward to that with baited breath.

Lesnar vs Carwin moved to ufc 108

The Brock Lesnar vs Shane Carwin fight has been moved up to UFC 108 which now means that the main event for UFC106 is Tito Ortiz vs Forest Griffin,Not too bad i suppose but kinda hoping that they add another good calibre fight as the co main event.

Brock vs Carwin OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's right people Brock Lesnar has called off the title fight between himself and Shane Carwin due to being ill and not being able to train for 3 weeks,Lesnar says and i quote "I have never been so ill in my entire life",What seems strange to me is why this news didn't come out like 2 weeks ago or at least a week ago,he cant of been hanging on to see if it would get better,after 2 weeks it would of dawned on the camp that it was serious.,Right now we don't know how Carwin is feeling, if he will get a new opponent or if the ufc will remove the fight altogether.Lets see,I'll keep you all updated.

The scoring system

Should the ten point scoring system stay?? As all those who witnessed Shogun lose by a dodgy judges decision to Lyoto Machida this weekend could clearly see the mma scoring system needs to be replace or radically changed,Shogun landed twice as many strikes as Machida but still lost,its possible that as the champion Machida already had an advantage in the judges eyes or that when he dodged punches and kicks he scored that way.Don't get me wrong i don't have the answer,i don't know of many other scoring system but i think the top bods should get together and devise a new one then implement it at perhaps a fight night as appose to a main ufc event just to see how it goes down.Any ideas chaps I'd love to hear them.

UFC 104 review!

Well what a great night of fights,albeit slightly marred by two possible dodgy judges decisions,in the co main event Cain Velasquez looked absolutely amazing,he was up against a veteran in Big Ben Rothwell and gave away reach, height, and about 25lbs in weight but that made no difference as Velasquez came out and simply dominated Rothwell both on the feet and on the ground and eventually the ref jumped in early in the second round as Velasquez was punching Rothwell repeatedly with no response from the fighter at all so the ref jumped in and called a halt to proceedings although there were unhappy calls from Rothwells corner who stated and quite rightly that Rothwell was getting to his feet so couldn't stop the punches,but never the less Rothwell was outclassed and Velasquez must now face surely the winner of Carwin vs Lesnar.

In the main event Everybody (myself included)thought that Machida was going to come in and dominate Shogun from start to finish,as it was Shogun came out and with some of the best leg kicks seen since Thiago Alves started wearing down the more and more frustrated looking Machida,Every time Machida came forward with a flurry Shogun answered with some well timed counter strikes,When it got to the fifth round Machida looked tired and had caught some big punches and was a bit bloodied.The judges came back with a unanimous decision for Lyoto Machida and he got the result he wanted,Many felt that shogun had possibly won it(me included) but as has been said many many times the ten point scoring system does not work well for mma and if you really want the title belt you will have to defeat the champion,never leave it in the hands of the judges,there are calls for a rematch and although i have no doubt it would be a great rematch i fear Machida would of learnt from this lesson and will be better prepared next time.

In other results a huge looking Anthony Johnson won very quickly when he ko'd yoshiyuki yoshida,think Johnson may have to move up to middleweight.Gleison Tibau defeated Josh Neer via unaminous decison and Spencer Fisher lost to Joe Stevenson via strikes in the first round.

Cant wait folks we are nearly here and the weigh ins are done and dusted although i must point out that if professional athletes cant make weight then ,maybe they should move up a weight.Anthony "Rumble" Johnson was an incredible 6pounds over the welterweight limit,now i here that in between fights he can weigh as much as 220 pounds and he is a very muscly guy but maybe he should consider middleweight as clearly having to drop 50 0dd pounds is too much as he didn't look to well at the weigh-ins.Still the time is nearly upon us and i cant wait,i just wanna say good luck Machida your going to dominate shogun......

Dana says "No way"

Dana White has come out publicly and said that Dan Henderson will not be re-signing with the ufc as they could not come to an agreement on pay, Apparently Hendo wanted way too much money and Dana decided to call a halt to proceedings there and then, it is rumoured that Hendo may be off to strikeforce but this is only a rumour.I for one think Hendo is cutting off his nose to spite his face as the ufc is the best around and can provide a longevity that perhaps other organisations cannot.

Shogun ready to shock the world

Well established fighters everywhere and millions of fight fans at home have been trying to answer the question "how do you beat Lyoto Machida" well ponder no more because Shogun Rua says he has the answer and will shock the world this Saturday night when he becomes the first man to defeat the "Dragon".Personally i think he is going to receive a sound whipping but hey that's just my opinion,how do you hit someone who isn't there when you swing??? Saturday night we will finds out.

Dan Henderson will resign with the ufc!

Reports are surfacing that after much deliberation and controversy surrounding Hendo's future he has decided to resign with the number one mma organisation and will quite possibly go head to head with Nate Marquardt,In all honesty where else was he going to go and get the same paycheck he was getting at the ufc (A reported $250,000 when he fought Michael Bisping).I like Hendo and would like to see him challenge Silva again for the middleweight strap.

Machida Eyes up Brock Lesnar!!

Reigning LHW Champion Lyoto Machida has come out and said that if he defends his title 5 times in a row he will be willing and indeed ready to take on Brock Lesnar for his heavyweight belt and you know what i reckon he is the one man capable of doing it outside of Anderson Silva.How would Brock get him to the ground if every time he went in for a take down Machida wasn't there,as we know Machida is so elusive, and after Machida's devastating performance against Rashad Evans i could see him having the power to KO Lesnar,There you go folks that's definitely one to look out for.

Yes its true UFC 110 is coming to Australia, rumoured to be put on in Sydney and also with rumours that it will feature the return of Wanderlie Silva in a headline fight,it is just further proof that the ufc is branching out and it is something that the Aussie fans have been looking forward too for sometime,UFC110 will happen in febuary of next year and without a shadow of a doubt 2010 is looking to be an exciting year for the ufc.

Ufc 104 is just around the corner and I'm so excited i cant wait.First of all id like to say that Machida is going to dominate Shogun from start to the inevitable KO finish!!!!.Shogun may be approaching his best form for some time but i don't see him figuring out the elusive yet always dangerous Machida.I predict Machida wins by KO in the third round.

Getting angry with Mr Rampage

I don't get it, The new A-Team film is sure to be a smash all around the world with not only ufc fans but film fans who don't know what mma is.Quinton Rampage Jackson has the chance to make a name for himself as a serious actor and to open up the world of mma and the ufc to a whole new audience,but then he goes and announces he is going to retire.Im sorry but if film fans who haven't seen the ufc tune in and he isn't fighting,sure some will stay tuned in and start to enjoy and appreciate the sport of mma but many will turn over and watch something else,this is nearly as big as the first season of the ultimate fighter in terms of positive publicity and he goes and blows it,what a dumb ass,i used to be a big fan but I'm slowly going off Rampage........Rant over.

Fighting talk!!!

Shane Carwin has started the war of words by stating that Lesnar is a draw but not a fighter,He is basically saying that while Lesnar can put bums on seats he certainly cant take the heat in the octagon,we shall certainly see if Lesnar can take a punch as i think Carwin has one of the hardest shots in the game, We must all remember that he dropped Gonzaga with one punch that was more of a jab than anything.If Lesnar can get past this test without just laying on Carwin then he will certainly get a bit more respect from we.

Junie Browning in attempted suicide riddle!!!

Ultimate fighter Mir vs Noguiera student Junie Browning has been cut from the ufc amid reports that he was arrested for assault and an attempt to take his own life,apparently after downing 16 anti anxiety pills he was admitted to hospital where according to reports he attacked both a male and female nurse and told one nurse he would kill and rape his family,although that part is being played down somewhat.Junie is no stranger to controversy and had a bit of a drunken attitude problem on season eight of the ultimate fighter,It seems that Dana White's patience has finally run out.

Tito Ortiz vs Forrest Griffin 2!!!!!!!!!!

That's right Marc Coleman has pulled out of the Tito fight because of a torn acl so in steps Forrest Griffin who most recently was hugely embarrassed by a TKO to Anderson Silva in 3 Min's.Forrest will be looking to get back in the winning streak and also claim revenge for a fight that he believes he won first time round.All i know is that come November 21st there is gonna be a war, and when that is all done there will be Lesnar vs Carwin (more on that one to come).

Rampage Retires!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apparently according to his official website Quinton "Rampage" Jackson has decided to retire from fighting and concentrate on his acting career.He goes on to say that Dana White has ridiculed his acting career and possibly ruined it for him so before that happens he is going to hang up his gloves.

He also states that his body has had too many injuries and there is now way he could carry on fighting into his forties like Randy.I hope this is all just Rampage venting a little bit as i really enjoy seeing him fight and he is good for the ufc as he is such a character and his upcoming role in the A_Team movie would of brought new fans to the sport.Any thoughts people??

Mirko Cro Cop set to quit???

Apparently Cro cop has been complaining that his body has had enough and he has been training to hard for 20 odd years and perhaps should of quit a long time ago.He has said that he was beaten by a stronger,younger and hungrier fighter and he was not prepared at his age to take risks which no longer makes him the exciting fighter we know and love.I think soon we will get the announcement that Mirko Cro Cop is to retire.!!!

Ufc 103 recap

Quite a good ufc event im pleased to report.First up the ever improving and always entertaining Tyson Griffin vs Hermes Franca, People had been critisising Griffin for his inability to finish fights but he changed all that with a straight right hand to Franca's face and dropped him then pounced all over Franca and put him away with Joe rogan praising his ability to finish someone who hasnt been finished.

New inductee to the ufc Paul Semtex Daley from the uk had the ever dangerous Martin Kampmann to deal with and deal with him he did,some may say it was stopped too quick by the referee but Kampmann was out on his feet after some vicious hooks to the head by Daley who walked away with a first round tko victory.

Junior dos santos Looked very impressive and very powerful against pride legend Mirko Cro cop who finished him with a flurry of vicious blows leaving the pride grand prix champ giving a verbal tap out because a blow to the head left him unable to see.

In the main event we had the return of Vitor "The Phenom" Belfort who had had a 5 year absence from the ufc and was back to top form facing off against the always popular Rich "Ace" Franklin.I was expecting Belfort to win but not in the fashion he did,Midway through the first round he grazed Rich's temple with a shot which dropped rich then just pounced with relentless fury landing blow after blow untill they were unanswered and Rich was out.Vitor is back.......!!!!.

Whats next for Belfort?? does he take a shot at the middleweight title and face off against the king Anderson Silva or does he move to light heavy and take on the cream of the ufc fighters?>either way he faces a tough few fights ahead.

Ufc fight night 19

Well what a start to the great weekend of ufc action this was.Nate Quarry vs Tim Credeur started the night off and started it strongly with Joe Rogan saying it was candidate for fight of the night with both men coming out swinging but with Quarry being just a bit too strong for Credeur looking like he was gonna take him out with one big right hand.Qaurry eventually won via unanimous decision.

Maynard vs Huerta was always gonna be a wicked fight,with both men expending a lot of energy within the first round but eventually Huerta was too durable for Maynard winning via split decision.

Diaz vs Guillard was the fight i was looking forward too the most and it didn't disappoint.Personally i was rooting for guillard as i have a momentous dislike for Diaz and for a few moments in the first round i felt that Guillard might take Diaz's head off but as soon as it hit the deck there was only going to be one outcome and that was another win for Diaz via guillotine choke in the second round.

UFC 105 Randy Couture vs Brandon Vera

Its official the ufc have announced today that Randy Couture is facing Brandon Vera at ufc 105 in Manchester, England.For British fans its not quite the headline they were expecting but it is Couture a living legend who will be appearing and he is always gonna be worth watching.

UFC 103

UFC 103 is coming on sat night and is looking to be a good one.We welcome the return of Vitor Belfort in his comeback fight against Rich Franklin and it is sure to be a good one,Vitor has looked fantastic against his previous two opponent's but Franklin is never to be underestimated.Apart from Anderson Silva he has never looked outclassed.We shall see!!!
The line up also See's the return of Frank Trigg as well as one of my favourite fighters Tyson Griffin who in my opinion is a future Lightweight champ,He came very close to beating Sean Sherk who is the number 2 in the world and i believe another 3-4 fights and he will be ready for a title shot,although Hermes Franca is a great jiu jitsu practitioner i cant see him beating Griffin.Should be good.

Fight night is coming around quick and i cant wait,Im not a fan of Melvin Guillards mouth but i am a fan of his explosiveness and cant wait to see him drop the even mouthier Diaz,as for Maynard vs Huerta it'll be a good test for Maynard,it'll be the toughest test of his career but im a big supporter of Mayanrd and can see him doing some damage.!!

Sean Sherk ducks out of UFC104!!!

Sean Sherk has claimed he has an injury and has pulled out of ufc 104,remarkably just hours after he was picked to undergo a random drugs test,Josh Neer has stepped in and will face Gleison Tibau at ufc 104.Now is it a real injury or because he has a somewhat checkered history with drug testing has he decided to pull out before they can test him and then subsequently ban him again...Makes ya wonder.

Matt Hughes resigns

After his unanimous man handling of Matt Serra UFC blog learns that The legend that is Matt Hughes has resigned with the ufc and signed a multi fight contract,No opponent has been announced or a date been set as of yet but we shall see if he can still cut it against the up and comers.

Debut of little Nog

UFC 105 in Manchester, England is to be the place where antonio rogerio Nogueira makes his ufc debut,The ufc light heavy weight once went on an 8 fight winning streak in pride and lots of mma fans are brimming with excitement at seeing this guy in the octagon.Me included.

the middle to end of November Dana White has now announced that another UFC event will

be squeezed in at the start of the month possibly featuring Diego Sanchez vs Bj Penn.

Randy's new deal

Well after his sterling performance against Nogueira last weekend Randy Couture has been offered a new 6 fight deal,Couture who lost to Nogueira on points but put on a good display could well be 49 by the time he reaches the last of his fights.....What a legend!!!

Fighter/Actor

Dana White has been quoted as saying he thinks fighters who want to branch off and become actors are tw**s and to be fair i agree,first off you have Quinton Rampage Jackson going off to play B.a barracus in the new A-team film and now Heath herring is apparently taking time out to pursue an acting career, i mean please, you should be fully focused on your fighting career and then when you are done then you can take up acting.Plus they don't have any experience in acting so whats the point.Get a life and concentrate on your career you numpty's.

UFC 102 ponderings!!!!

Well the Couture vs nog fight lived up to expectations with both fighters giving a good slug fest although every time randy gets hit now he goes down and you think he's done for,good fight though.

The Silva vs Jardin fight went exactly as i expected although i thought Jardin was gonna nick it with a ko victory just because he is so bloody difficult to figure out where his punches are gonna come from.

Marquardt vs Maia well poor Maia i felt for him because he is so good on the ground but like joe said it always starts on the feet and on the feet marquardt was much better,bang one punch and Maia did a flip onto his front and was clearly done,Marquardt will now have to face hendo to see who gets silva next,could see Marquardt beating hendo though.

Just seen the UFC 102 countdown!!! man i love that show,no matter who's fighting it always gets me pumped and i cant wait for the action to start,bring on tonight's match ups and lets have it!!!

UFC 105

Bj Penn vs Diego Sanchez will not happen at UFC 105 in the uk, but now we will possibly see Anderson Silva vs Dan Henderson instead in manchester, england,an interesting prospect for the british fans.Not sure which one i would rather watch but i think i would plump for the lightweight battle if pushed.

Rampage as MR T!!!!!

Rumours abound that Quinton "Rampage" Jackson the former ufc light heavyweight champ has been cast in the role of Mr T in the new A-team film,weather the rumours are true or not remains to be seen but me for one would like to see him in that role, Don't know about his acting skills parse but he always comes across on screen as a likeable humerous guy, so hopefully he can portray B.A in a good way and do well in the role, More to come when there is definite news.

UFC 102

So UFC 102 coming up this weekend and i cant wait the big 3 obviously are Big Nog vs Couture,Jardin vs Silva and Marquardt vs Maia all of them have the potential to be great fights.My predictions are Couture win by GNP in the third, Jardin win by tko in the second and maia win by submission in the second.Come on chaps lets have a good one

Tito vs Mark Coleman

Its official Tito has signed to fight Mark coleman, now don't get me wrong Ive never been a huge Tito fan because of his big mouth but i know he is good for the ufc because he gets a lot of coverage but i think he is gonna whoop Colemans ass,Tito had some of the best stamina in the game and I'm betting he hasn't lost it,in fact he was renowned for his gas tank. Tito victory by GNP in the second.

Anderson "Fatboy" Silva

That's right!!! Fat boy!! apparently Silva is thinking of moving to heavyweight to gain new challenges, not sure that the right move for him, i can see him hitting 205 permanently no issue but even the smallest heavyweight is probably Randy Couture and he weighs in at around 225.Skilled or not if someone the size of Carwin or Lesnar decided to rush him would he be able to put them down like he did with Forrest?.Well if he is gonna go north i reckon light heavyweight should give him more of a challenge,i just think he doesn't want to face his buddy and fearsome fighter Lyoto Machida.

Rumours of ufc 105

There are strong rumours going around that at ufc 105 in manchester, england, Bj penn could well defend his title vs Diego Sanchez,This would be brilliant news for all the british fans as there hasnt been a decent fight in england since Rampage vs Henderson at ufc 75 but apparantly Bj wasnt happy when he fought there at ufc 80 as the attendance wasnt brilliant so he didnt get as much cash as he was hoping for,Despit all this though its a bigger venue then the one in birmingham at ufc 80 so hopefully his sponsors can sway him with a bit of extra cash,be good to see that fight.

Shane Carwin vs Brock Lesnar????

Apparently Shane Carwin has been pulled from his fight with Cain Velasquez and pencilled in to face Lesnar at ufc106.Apparently the ufc were worried that no suitable opponent would be found to face lenar until the end of the year or later so Carwin has been drafted in.Good news for Carwin,he is perhaps one of the heaviest hitters in the game and it will be good to see Brock take a punch from this guy,also he is a good size about 250 and ripped so I'm all set for this one,dunno why just wanna see Lesnar take a beating like the dufus he is.

Vitor is back!!!

The phenom!!!!! Can he be a force this time round,only time will tell,he is up against a tough opponent in his comeback fight,Rich Franklin wont hold back and has good all round skills so we will have to see but Vitor has looked terrific in his last 2 or 3 fights so bring it on!!

It is Nate Marquardt vs Damien Maia I'm most excited about, Marquardt has been improving no end and he is up against a bjj phenom in Maia who is undefeated,A battle of top middleweight contenders and i cant wait,whoever wins should be next in line for a shot at Anderson Silva.

Marquardt has been there before but i think he is a much better fighter now, but personally id like to see maia get in with the Spider.We shall see.

Tito is back!!!!!

So Tito Ortiz is back in the ufc,never thought i'd See it happen personally as him and Dana never got on.But he is back now and looks like he will be fighting Mark Coleman come the end of the year, although he has already been badmouthing Coleman saying that he cant wait to beat him so he can face some decent fighters....Ahh you gotta love Tito and his mouth, the ufc hasn't been the same since he left.Welcome back Tito.
